This is the first roaster I have used. On the initial use I managed to set off all the smoke detectors in the house within 2 minutes.I also ended up with a very dark roast.I found by reducing the amount of beans to about 4- 4.5 oz. and watching(reducing) the time I came up with a much more consistant roast with out all the smoke.I now use it directly under the range hood to avoid the smoke detector issue .By watching carefully it is very easy to control the roast from light to dark,first crack,second crack or anywhere in between.The coffee I've roasted and brewed has been wonderful!The only real trouble I've had was the last time I used it. ...
